Imagining the VegFest Theme “Peaceful Plates, Peaceful World”

Sedona is uniquely blessed with an active art community and many artists who share our dedication to a healthy, humane, and sustainable world. Each year, one of these local artists creates and donates to Sedona VegFest an original artwork reflective of that year’s theme. The theme of Sedona VegFest 2018 is “Peaceful Plates, Peaceful World,” and we are thrilled to feature a gorgeous painting of that title by Susan Pitcairn. The work is 36″x36″, gallery wrap acrylic, and is valued at $3000. It is being offered for sale/auction by Healthy World Sedona with 100% of proceeds donated by the artist to support Sedona VegFest. The purchaser will also receive a complimentary signed copy of “Spirit of the Earth,” Pitcairn’s inspiring full-color volume of a lifetime of paintings and poetry reflecting nature and spirit. Anyone interested in acquiring “Peaceful Plates, Peaceful World” outright or placing a bid is invited to contact Public Relations Manager Jon Thompson at

About the Artist

Award-winning Sedona landscape painter Susan Pitcairn is passionate about helping to create a more healthy, humane, and sustainable world for all of us and is a frequent blogger and presenter on that topic. Her 2018 poster painting, “Peaceful Plates, Peaceful World” reflects her love of plant-based foods, as well as the breathtaking scenery of the Arizona where she was raised.

“The whole-food, plant-based diet is truly on the rise and I believe, along with many others, that it is an essential key to the more beautiful world we all wish to see. I love Sedona, the moon, and serving colorful plant-based foods,” she notes, “and somehow it all came together in this image. I first visited Red Rock Crossing in about 1960 and since moving to Sedona in 2006 to be a professional artist I’ve painted this scene many times, usually on site. I also love to photograph my culinary creations, including this one. Putting it together as this fantasy was fun.”

A frequent award-winning artist and participant in the Sedona Plein Air Festival and other events, Pitcairn is also co-author of the Rodale Press best seller, “Dr. Pitcairn’s Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats” and illustrator of the 4th (2017) edition.  She is featured in Louise MacDonald’s “Sedona’s Best Artists” (2014) and shows at the Sedona Arts Center and Gallery 527 (Jerome). Her YouTube channel, susanpitcairn offers beautiful and informative video presentations on plant-based diets, sustainable living, principles of art, poetry, and more.
