Healthy World Sedona Presents Sedona Health and Nutrition Conference January 18-19, 2018


Sedona, AZHealthy World Sedona, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit, will present the Sedona Health and Nutrition Conference 2018 in the Monet Ballroom of L’Auberge de Sedona, 301 L’Auberge Lane, Sedona AZ 86336 on January 18 and 19, 2018. 

Participants will discover how plant-based nutrition is changing the landscape of medical practice in the U.S.  This is the first conference in Northern Arizona to present the latest information on the science and practice of “food as medicine”  – medicine that goes beyond managing chronic conditions to promote true healing.  Learn the latest information on plant-based nutrition, the effects of diet on chronic disease prevention and control, and how to design an optimum plant-based diet for patients and clients in a clinical setting.

Faculty for 2018 will include Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr. from the Cleveland Clinic,  Dr. Michael Klaper of True North Clinic in Santa Rosa, Dr. Shipra Bansal of NorthCountry Healthcare in Flagstaff, and several additional medical professionals. The theme for this year’s conference “Medicine That Heals”.

Interest in plant-based diets is rapidly growing. Practitioners are now successfully using this interest and information in a clinical setting to change the lives of their patients.

This conference, designed for healthcare professionals, offers up to 10.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for many medical professionals, and 10.5 CPEUs from the Commission on Dietetic Registration for registered dietitians.

Others with a strong interest in nutrition and health may also attend.

Program Objectives: 

Participants will be able to:

– Recognize the links between dietary choices and chronic diseases such as cancer, coronary heart disease, diabetes and obesity

– Understand the evidence-based research on nutrition and reversal of coronary artery disease

– Identify health-promoting foods and general approaches to nutrition that are most beneficial to patient health

– Describe a list of current resources to maintain up-to-date knowledge of nutritional medicine

– Describe the research outcomes from local, chronic disease prevention studies

– Distinguish specific approaches to incorporating nutritional interventions in medical practice.
